Hotels in the City of Beirut
With the mountains behind
it and the Mediterranean blue sea facing it, located literary in the middle of Lebanon,
Beirut, the
capital, has the lion's share of hotels. It attracts the largest number of visitors who find it easy to arrange daily
excursions to places of interest in Lebanon, while returning to spend the night in Beirut.
Busy, congested, but elegant and chic, Beirut has successfully and
charmingly mixed the old with the new. It is the cultural center of Lebanon and home to many
universities
including the renowned
American University of Beirut,
and the
Universite Saint-Joseph.
When in Beirut, a visit to its
downtown
is a must. A reconstruction project
left the area and its arches beautifully restored with many restaurants and cafes enlivened by
fairs and other attractions. Also, don't leave before checking out the famous
Pigeon
Rock.
Take a walk along the
corniche
a two kilometer palm-lined boulevard along the seaside, best enjoyed at sunset.
